Market outlook

Rising Outlook 7/10

Demand is supported by Eevee’s enduring popularity, nostalgia for the Black & White era, and collector preference for unusual Japanese event promos. Strong graded premiums suggest continued interest in high-grade copies, although the available price data is fragmented and some quoted values are estimates or asking prices rather than verified sales.

Next months. Over the next 3-6 months, raw and mid-grade copies are likely to remain broadly stable to moderately firm, while graded 10 prices may fluctuate substantially because of limited confirmed sales and uneven supply. Clean, well-centered copies should command the strongest premiums.

Long term. Over 1-3 years, the card has favorable appreciation potential if Japanese event promos and Eevee collectibles continue gaining attention. A gradual rising trend is plausible, but returns will depend heavily on condition, grading-company reputation, verified population data, and whether additional sealed promotional material or ungraded copies enter the market.

History

Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in the first generation. Its distinctive significance is its unusually broad evolutionary potential, with evolutions commonly known as Eeveelutions, making it one of the franchise’s most popular collectible characters. This card features Eevee alongside Pikachu in artwork by Akira Komayama.

First released in Japan on July 13, 2013, as a Japanese BW-P Black Star Promo distributed through the 2013 Pokémon Fair 7-Eleven Pokémon Stamp Rally. The promotion ran from July 13 through August 15, 2013; eligible participants received a promotional pack after collecting four stamps. It was not distributed in booster packs, theme decks, Pokémon Centers, or ordinary toy stores.

  • Card number 235/BW-P and Japanese-language holofoil Black Star Promo.
  • The card uses an all-over star-shaped holofoil pattern visible when tilted under light.
  • The promotion was associated with 7-Eleven stores and had limited practical distribution because relatively few stores reportedly stocked the card.
  • The illustrated scene includes both Eevee and Pikachu.
  • The card is sometimes listed under the searchable name Eevee [7-11 Holo] or Eevee Pokemon Fair 2013.

  • It was a limited Japanese promotional release rather than a booster-pack card.
  • Distribution required participation in a 7-Eleven stamp rally, restricting access compared with ordinary retail products.
  • The card was not sold through standard booster packs, theme decks, Pokémon Centers, or general toy stores.
  • Eevee and Pikachu artwork plus the all-over star holofoil increase collector appeal.

Collector notes

Condition. Inspect the surface under angled light for scratches, holofoil scuffing, print lines, dents, and pressure marks. Check all four corners and edges for whitening, silvering, chipping, bends, and factory cuts. Centering, especially front-to-back and left-to-right border balance, can affect grading. Because the holofoil covers much of the card, scratches and fingerprints are more visible than on many standard cards. Verify that the stamp-rally version is present rather than confusing it with another Japanese Eevee promo.

Storage. Store in an archival penny sleeve inside a rigid semi-rigid holder or top loader, with the opening protected from dust. For long-term storage, use a graded slab or an archival binder page with side-loading pockets. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, humidity, PVC materials, and rapid temperature changes. Avoid stacking heavy items on top of the card and handle it by the edges.

Authenticity. Confirm the Japanese layout, BW-P numbering, 235/BW-P identifier, correct Eevee-and-Pikachu artwork, and characteristic star-pattern holofoil. Compare the holofoil pattern, typography, colors, borders, attack text, card stock, and gloss with verified examples. Fakes may show incorrect Japanese characters, blurry fine print, overly dark or flat colors, wrong holofoil stars, inconsistent cardstock, or abnormal light transmission. A reputable grading-company slab provides additional assurance, but the certification number and slab details should also be checked against the grading company’s records.
