Market outlook
Rising Outlook 7/10
The card has benefited from strong nostalgia, villain-team collector demand, low set supply, and renewed attention from price spikes in comparable cards. Team Aqua and Team Magma chase cards tend to move together, and Kyogre has shown especially strong momentum.
Next months. Likely to remain firm with possible continued upward movement, though a short-term pullback is possible after rapid gains.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, the card should remain collectible and likely appreciate gradually if demand for XY-era villain-team chase cards continues, especially in graded high-end copies.
History
Kyogre is a Legendary Water-type Pokemon first introduced in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire era as the Sea Basin Pokemon, serving as one half of the weather-controlling duo with Groudon. In Team Aqua lore, Kyogre is the organization’s emblematic legendary, representing ocean expansion, flood, and aquatic dominance. Team Aqua's Kyogre EX in Double Crisis reflects the villain-team storyline where Team Aqua seeks to awaken and control Kyogre to reshape the world through the sea. The card is especially significant to collectors because it combines a fan-favorite Legendary Pokemon with an iconic villain-team aesthetic and full-art treatment.
First released in the Pokemon TCG set Double Crisis, an XY-era special expansion released in English on March 25, 2015. The card was printed as Team Aqua's Kyogre EX #6/34, Ultra Rare, Full Art.
- This card is part of the small 34-card Double Crisis set, which was themed entirely around Team Aqua and Team Magma.
- Team Aqua's Kyogre EX and Team Magma's Groudon EX are the chase cards of the set and are often collected as a pair.
- Demand has increased significantly in the mid-2020s, with market commentary noting a sharp rise in value after a long period of relatively modest pricing.

Collector notes
Condition. Check the full-art holo surface for scratches, edge whitening, and corner wear, especially on the black borders and silver foil areas. Centering can be an issue, and print lines, dents, and roller marks are important on textured or glossy full arts. Because the card is from a small special set, pack-fresh copies can still show factory edge chipping or surface imperfections.
Storage. Store in a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid card holder, ideally inside a protective team bag. Keep away from humidity, heat, and direct light to preserve holo shine and prevent border whitening. For high-grade copies, use archival-safe storage and avoid repeated handling without gloves or clean hands.
Authenticity. Verify the correct Double Crisis copyright line, card number 6/34, and the Team Aqua full-art styling. Counterfeits may have weak holo texture, blurry text, incorrect font weight, or off-color blue/black tones. Compare the back coloration and gloss against known authentic English Pokemon cards, and for expensive graded-worthy copies, consider professional grading or authentication.
