Market outlook
Declining Outlook 4/10
Recent 30-day drop of -22.5% in raw prices reflects post-hype correction for anniversary products; steady graded floor but no upward momentum.
Next months. Continued soft raw market ($8-12), graded stable at $80+
Long term. Stable low-end collector item; unlikely to exceed $200 for gems without major nostalgia revival
History
Venusaur is the final evolution of Bulbasaur, the Grass/Poison-type Starter Pokémon from Generation 1 (Red/Green/Blue). As the third stage in the Seedot line, it represents maturity and power, featuring a large flower bulb on its back that blooms with solar energy for attacks like Solar Beam. Iconic as one of the original starters, Venusaur holds significant nostalgia in Pokémon lore, appearing in anime, manga, and games as a symbol of growth and nature's strength.
First printed in English as Base Set #15/102 in the original Pokémon TCG Jungle expansion in 1999, with the Celebrations Classic Collection reprint in November 2021 as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration.
- This Celebrations version reprints the iconic Jungle holo Venusaur artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, one of the most recognized pieces in Pokémon TCG history.
- Features special 25th Anniversary stamp on the card, distinguishing it from original printings.
- Part of the Celebrations set, which reprinted 25 classic cards to commemorate Pokémon's anniversary.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for centering (common off-center prints in Celebrations), holo scratching on the flower pattern, edge whitening from the thick stock, surface scratches on the face/eyes, and print lines on the bulb. Corners prone to dings due to rigid card stock.
Storage. Use semi-rigid holders or top-loaders with sleeves for raw cards; avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading of anniversary stamp and colors. Store in cool, dry environment away from humidity which can warp the thick Celebrations stock.
Authenticity. Verify 25th Anniversary stamp texture (raised/embossed on genuine); check font consistency and holo pattern shimmer. Fakes often have blurry artwork or incorrect stamp alignment. Cross-reference with graded/graded population reports; authenticate via official graders for high-value copies.
